Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave’s recruitment system is one of the most unique in the series. Instead of gaining a lot of units throughout the main story with a handful of optional recruits, most of the game’s cast as optional recruits instead and you’ll only gain a handful of required allies during the story. Almost every unit in the game will ask you to both give them gifts for extra support points and reach a certain amount of renown via doing sidequests before they’ll even consider doing them. One of these units is Nydine, a proud Ornius rider who can be found roaming the streets of Dagison. If you would like to get her in your party as soon as possible, here is a quick guide on how to recruit Nydine in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave.

How to Recruit Nydine in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

Every unit’s recruitment requirements varies depending on your route in order to make sure you don’t rely on the same party for all characters. Some protagonists can get Nydine relatively early while others will need to wait quite a while to get her. Here are her recruitment requirements across all four routes.

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai16Bring her 2 Bronze Axes
Leda310Bring her 2 Bronze Axes
Theodora35Bring her 2 Bronze Axes
Dietrich25Bring her 2 Bronze Axes

While no one will be able to recruit Nydine super early, three of your protagonists will be able to grab her around the mid-way point of their routes. Leda unfortunately won’t be able to get her until very far into her route.

Cai won’t need to reach any support rank to recruit Nydine, likely due to them both already having a shared love of Ornius riding, but the other characters will need to bond with her a bit in order to bring her onto the team. While the “Likes” part of her character info is a bit vague, you can’t go wrong with gifting her archery items and animal grooming kits.

Once you have reached the appropriate level of Renown and raised your support level with Nydine high enough, you’ll be able to recruit her. Unfortunately, she needs a little bit of payment before she will join your party. It isn’t much though, she just needs you to bring her 2 bronze axes.

Bronze axes can be bought over at the armory in Dagison. They cost 500 Gold a pop so Nydine asking you to bring her two of them is just a fancy way of saying that she costs 1000 Gold to recruit her. Just give her the axes and you’ll have another decent Ornius Rider in your party.
