The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon features a large game-spanning dungeon called the Grim Garten which the player is expected to repeatedly enter and complete floors of as they progress the plot. In order to enter to Grim Garten from any location, players must first find the entrance portal. While this is overall a small mechanic as there is nothing stopping you from backtracking to one of the portals the game requires you to use, find a new portal will reward the player with a lot of G-Tokens and Mira to spend in the Grimoire Decryption within the Garten which can grant the party several powerful quartz and alternate costumes. If you are in need of some quick tokens or are simply a completionist who want to find every portal, then feel free to use this guide on all Grim Portal locations in The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon.
Trails Beyond the Horizon – All Grim Portal Locations
There are a total of 23 Grim Portals in the game, with there being one in each area of all of the game’s towns as well as one oddly located in one of the fields in Van’s Act III chapters. You’ll gain the ability to scan for Grim Portals in Act I Part 2. I have separated this guide into multiple sections in order to show when you will be able to find each portal chronologically through your playthrough.
Act I Part 2 Grim Portal Locations
Edith – Old Town
This is the very first Grim Portal in the game and the first of a handful of ones you’ll be required to find during the plot.
Edith – Riverside
The next Grim Portal can be found in Edith – Riverside, by the entrance to the Underground Maintenance Tunnel.
Edith – Tyrell District
Tyrell District’s Grim Portal is ledged between the entrance to the waterway and the Tyrell Times.
Edith – Auber District
You’ll find this portal just to the left of the academy’s entrance gate.
Edith – Grand Circuit
The next Grim Portal can be found to the left of the ferris wheel in Edith’s Grand Circuit area.
Edith – Blacklight District
Blacklight District’s Grim Portal can be found to the left of the arena overlooking the area.
Edith – Chardin District
This Grim Portal is located directly behind the Chardin.
Act I Part 3 Grim Portals
Edith – Station Street
You’ll find this Grim Portal in the northeast corner of the map.
Edith – Trion Mall
Trion Mall’s Grim Portal is located directly across from the entrance.
Edith – Levre District
This Grim Portal is located behind Cafe La Provence.
Act II Van Route I Portals
Edith – Seiden District
You’ll find this Grim Portal right near the area’s entrance, just walk past the stairs in front of you and scan near the corner.
Edith – Centre Marche
This next Grim Portal can be found in Centre Marche, it is located next to a tree in an alley on the northwest part of the map.
Act 2 Kevin Route I Portals
Tharbad – Cultural District
You’re required to discover this portal during the events of the story.
Tharbad – Entertainment District
The next portal is located in an open area to the right of the Entertainment District’s entrance.
Act 2 Rean Route I Portals
Basel – Artisanal District
The next Grim Portal is one you’re required to discover during the story.
Basel – New Town
New Town’s Grim Portal can be found behind the stairs to the left of Verne HQ
Act 2 Rean Route II Portals
Basel Institute of Science
You’ll find this next Grim Portal by a tree to the left of the Institute’s entrance.
Act 3 Van Route IV Portals
Anchorville
This portal is one you’re required to find during the story.
Anchorville General Hospital – Exterior
The next portal can be found to the left of the Anchorville Hosptial’s entrance.
Act 3 Rean Route 3 Portal
Longlai
You’ll find this portal by some cars slightly to the east of Longlai Temple.
Act 3 Kevin Route 3 Portal
Creil Village Ruins
Creil Village’s Grim Portal can be found on the left side of the map.
Act 3 Van Route 6 Portal
Anchorville Logistics Center – Exterior
Shockingly this area also has a Grim Portal, it’s located in the northwest part of the map.
Finale Grim Portal
Edith – Vantail District
You’ll find this Grim Portal by the Museum on the east side of the map.
