Stellar Blade will be one of the few R-18 video games that will be released uncensored in several countries with strict regulations, including Japan.

Stellar Blade’s official Twitter account confirmed that several government bodies will not censor the game when it comes out on April 26.

What this means is that everyone around the world will enjoy the same unfiltered version of Stellar Blade.

Japanese censorship is common in the video game industry. Many games over the years have had their content altered and toned down for Japanese audiences. Best-selling and critically acclaimed titles like The Last of Us, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Cyberpunk 2077, among others, have had their nude and violent content censored in their Japanese versions.

In certain cases, the Japanese regulatory body responsible for censoring video games in the country will outright ban a game.

A recent example of this is The Callisto Protocol, which Japan’s CERO rating system had deemed worthy of an outright ban for featuring an excessive amount of gore. The game’s developers, Striking Distance, decided against altering the game’s content to pass certification. Thus, CERO banned the game from releasing officially in Japan.

When Is Stellar Blade Coming Out on Playstation 5?

Stellar Blade has consistently been one of the most controversial video games over the better part of the past two months. Most of the discussion focuses on the risqué and bold design as well as overall look of the game’s characters. In particular, there are many divisive comments on Eve’s Skin Suit.

Gameplay-wise, Stellar Blade is getting positive praise from those who’ve tried it out using the demo.

The free demo of Stellar Blade on PS5 has been available since March 29. However, the main game won’t launch on PS5 until April 26.

Stellar Blade is being developed by Shift-Up with help from Sony as its publishing partners.

It’s unclear if Stellar Blade will eventually make its way to PC and/or Xbox.
