For most of Silly Polly Beast, the player will be able to progress simply by always moving forward into new rooms and defeating waves of enemies. However, there is one chapter of the game which asks much more of the player, Chapter 4: The House Polly Burned Down. This chapter tasks the player with exploring an orphanage that doesn’t have many enemies entirely from a 2D camera perspective. This sequence of the game is structured much like classic Survival Horror games as the player must find items and repeatedly backtrack to old rooms with them. However, because Polly cannot pick up an item before she knows she needs it, it can be very easy to get lost during this Chapter. If you need any assistance at all please consult this walkthrough for the orphanage in Silly Polly Beast
Silly Polly Beast – Orphanage Walkthrough
From the entrance hall, roll over the obstacle in your way and enter the door on the right to reach the First Floor Hallway (Left Side). From there, climb the stairs on your right to get to the Second Floor Hallway. Walk a bit to the right and then go down the stairs to reach the First Floor Hallway (Right Side).
Once in the First Floor Hallway (Right Side). Walk to the left until you reach the door for the Director’s Office. Enter and then examine the bag on the desk to get the Director’s Key. Return to the hallway and then walk up the stairs to return to the Second Floor Hallway.

From here, walk all the way to the left until you reach the Canteen. You can enter it with the Director’s Key. Once in the Canteen, walk into the kitchen in the back and examine the Disgusting Pot.
After examining the pot, return to the Second Floor Hallway and walk to the right until you reach a door marked Storage. Enter this room and then examine the shelf on the right wall to obtain a Pipe Wrench. Once you have the Pipe Wrench, return to the kitchen. Once in the kitchen, slowly walk to the DIsgusting Pot and interact with it to drain it.

With our first chain of events cleared, it’s now time to start making some progress unlocking rooms. To start, return to the Second Floor Hallway and walk all the way to the right to enter the Boys’ Dorm. Interact with the creature in this room. Now that we know the creature is hungry, we can feed it. To start, head to the back of the First Floor Hallway (Left Side) and then go right to the Entrance Hall. Then enter the Security Room and examine the bucket on the left side of the room.

Now that you have a bucket, walk back to the Kitchen and examine the lump of flesh on the right side of the room to put it in said bucket. After doing that, walk back to the creature in the Boys’ Dorm to feed it. Unfortunately, the creature is still hungry, so we’ll need to get more meat. Walk to the Director’s Office on the First Floor Hallway (Right Side) and then enter the side room to the right. Here, there will be a corpse on the couch that you can examine to get some more meat.
After feeding the creature a second time, part of his guts will explode, and you’ll be able to enter a new room in the Boys’ Dorm. Enter it and you’ll be in the Boys’ Bedroom. Once in here, walk to the right to enter the Boys’ Showers and learn that you need to turn off the water. After that, reenter the Boys’ Bedroom and shoot the meat hanging from the ceiling with your revolver until it falls.

This will alert Mrs. Smith to your location. She is unkillable but can be stunned with a few bullets. After stunning her, roll past her and re-enter the Boys’ Dorm to make her vanish. Once she’s gone, go back to the Boys’ Bedroom and collect the meat from the corpse you just shot down. Bring this meat to the creature in the Boys’ Dorm to feed it for a final time.
After feeding the creature for the last time, head to the First Floor Hallway (Right Side) and walk to the left to see that the door to the First Floor Bathroom is now open, enter it. Once in here, walk to the right and interact with the ladder to enter the Basement Laundry Room. From the Basement Laundry Room, make your way to the Basement Hallway and then right to the Boiler Room. Examine the Boiler to learn that you will need a valve to operate it. Re-enter the Hallway and make your way left to learn about the door with the Electric Lock and how you need the right part to open it.
With this information learned, walk all the way back to the Second Floor Hallway and then go up the stairs to the left to reach the Third Floor Hallway (Left Side). While you’re here, examine the door on the left side of the hallway to learn that you need Acid to open it. After doing that, walk into the door on the right and interact with the mechanism on the wall, and remove its component to receive a Fuse.

Now that you have the Fuse, return to the Electric Lock Door in the Basement Hallway and interact with it. Enter the room, and you will find a puzzle where you need to pull a series of levers in a specific order because pulling one lever makes it so two others either can or cannot be pulled. The proper order to pull the levers is
- Middle Right
- Far Left
- Far Right
- Middle Right
After turning off the generator by pulling the levers, enter the hallway to see Mrs. Smith placing bear traps on the floor. Stepping into one of these will cause the player to lose one of Polly’s horns PERMANENTLY. Avoid stepping into these at all costs, as they have now been placed in every single hallway. Avoid running or dodge-rolling as that will lead you directly into them.
To disable a bear trap, simply shoot it once with your revolver. However, this will always make Mrs. Smith appear in whatever hallway you’re in, so make sure you have a way to quickly exit the room if you do. If you ever need to refill your bullets, there is a flaming can to do so in the Boys’ Dorm.
Now that the threat of the bear traps has been explained, walk to the right to see that the Basement Storage room has been opened. Enter it and examine the Matryoshka’s in the room to learn that you’ll need to collect those as you explore the Orphanage. Then walk to the right of the room to collect Matryoshka II. Place it with the other to make a mechanism move somewhere.
With this Matryoshka in place, make your way back to the First Floor Hallway (Right Side) and walk to the right until you see the First Aid Post. This door is marked with a II, meaning that it has now been unlocked thanks to the Matryoshka you just placed. Enter the room. Once in here, examine the dripping IV in the center of the room to find some Acid. Unfortunately, you will need a hose to get it.
Now walk all the way to the right of the room to find a closet that you can push. Do so, and you will find a secret passage which leads to a Torture Room. Exit the Torture Room via the left side, and you will be in the Secret Basement Hallway. From here, make your way to the left until you see a door marked with a II, and enter it.
Aim your revolver at the ceiling of this room and fire at the key barely visible on the ceiling to obtain the Caregiver’s Key. After getting this item, more Bear traps will spawn in the Secret Basement Hallway and other areas, so be careful. Only walk, don’t run or roll. Have your gun ready to disable them.

Now that you have the Caregiver’s Key, make your way to the Second Floor Hallway and use it to unlock the Caregiver’s Room. In here, you can find and pick up Matryoshka I on the bed. After picking it up, return to the Basement Storage Room and place it next to the other Matryoshka.
With the second Matryoshka placed, make your way to the Third Floor hallway and enter the room where you got the Fuse, and enter the room you can now access on the right. This will lead to a long hallway and a terrifying enemy that gazes at you through the window. You cannot beat this enemy, but you do need to get past it and keep going down the hallway to the right. Stand behind the various rubble and spaced between windows in the hallway to stay out of her sight.
After sneaking through this area, you will be in the Third Floor Hallway (Right Side). Walk to the left and pick up the Wood Chip in this hallway before you progress. After picking that up, continue walking to the right to reach the Girls’ Dorm. Walk to the right and interact with the corpse in the chair to get an Infusion Tube.
After picking up the Infusion Tube, walk through the door marked I to enter the Girls’ Bedroom. Here you can pick up a second Wood Shard. Continue walking right and you’ll reach the Girls’ Bathroom. Here, there is a red fog maze that will gift you with half of Matryoshka III when you reach the end of it.

Now that we have the Infusion Tube, even more bear traps will spawn in the halls. Avoid them as you return to the First Floor Hallway (Right Side) and once again enter the First Aid Post. Interact with the dripping Acid to finally pick it up. Travel back to the Third Floor Hallway and use the Acid on the door to the left to enter a new room. Interact with the table in this room twice to repair Matryoshka III. Even more Bear traps will spawn after this.
Shooting three Bear traps in the Second Floor Hallway will earn you the Trap Destroyer Achievement. After getting that, make your way back to the Basement Storage Room to place Matryoshka III. Once the final Matryoshka is placed, you will immediately be placed into a combat encounter, so be prepared.
After fighting those enemies, return to the Basement Hallway and make your way to the right and re-enter the room with the levers from earlier. With all the Matryoshka in place, you can now climb down the ladder marked III.
Once in this Garage Hallway, just walk to the right until you can enter a door. Examine the valve on the ground in this room to learn that you need to get a shovel. Luckily, there is a shortcut to the Secret Hallway in this room, and you can get a shovel there. After grabbing the shovel, just walk back and pick up the Valve. Even more bear traps will spawn once you do.
Now that you have the Valve, make your way to the Boiler Room on the right side of the Basement Hallway to put it where it belongs. After the events that follow, you will get half of the Emergency Key.
To get the other half of the Emergency Key, you’ll need to backtrack all the way to the Boys’ Dorm on the Second Floor and enter the Boys’ Bathroom. Here you will find one more Matryoshka. Examine it to get the second half of the Emergency Key. With both halves of the Emergency Key in hand, return to the room where you fixed the previous Matryoshka on the Third Floor and repair the key.
With the Emergency Key in hand, return to the Director’s Office on the First Floor (Right Side) and unlock the cabinet to get an optional weapon: The Stake Gun. After grabbing that, make your way to the Gym on the right side of the First Floor. In this room, there will be a puzzle where you must break eggs that you can only see in the mirror’s reflection in order to progress.

After exiting the gym, you can take a seat in the chair to earn the Melancholy achievement. After doing that, just climb the ladder to your left, and you will have successfully escaped the Orphanage.
