At 1:50 PM EST on March 27, 2024, famed Sega and Atlus leaker Midori took to Twitter with a grave announcement, stating that she would no longer be using her account to leak information about the company.
“It is difficult, but I would like to stop using this account.
Thank you for reading my Sega Group information. Please continue to look forward to the future of Atlus and Sega.”
-Midori
The reason for Midori’s departure from social media can be traced to a recent controversy in the past few days where the infamous leaker Zippo made claims that the classic GameCube title Sonic Heroes would be receiving a remake in Unreal Engine 5.
While Zippo has a reputation online for almost always being wrong, only being able to predict games that everyone knows about, some Twitter users sent this Zippo leak to Midori asking if she could confirm it.
In a series of follow-up messages, Midori would seemingly confirm that a Sonic Heroes remake was in development, stating that Sega was remaking several titles in Unreal Engine such as Jet Set Radio, and that Sonic Heroes may be under consideration.
However, later messages from Midori contained backtracking on this so-called Heroes remake. It appears the language barrier between English and Japanese caused her to make incorrect statements about the title’s development. She would spend the evening of March 26th apologizing for this mistake.

Some users of course stated that although she made the mistake of agreeing with Zippo’s claims, she did bear responsibility for how widespread they became due to her reputation as an incredibly reliable leaker in Sega-centric spaces. Midori agreed with this as her last message of the night before returning to Twitter the next morning to announce her retirement.

With Midori’s departure from Twitter, many feel the leaking community has lost one of its most prominent figures. Information from Midori was always considered reliable compared to other leakers who would sprinkle in lies among known information. Gamers can only hope another person can fill the gap left behind by Midori.
