On December 15, 2023, video game developer and publisher miHoYo held a news stream for their popular RPG Honkai Star Rail. This stream unveiled information about what would be added to the game in its version 1.6 update. This stream began with a short trailer before giving further info.
The major content being added in version 1.6 of Honkai Star Rail are three new maps for the game’s Simulated Universe mode: “Planar Fissure”, “Voids and Gears”, and “Realm of the Strange”.
These two maps will include a new weekly boss battle known as the Star Crush Storm King, a gigantic insect enemy that will summon additional enemies each turn. While challenging this boss players will want to bring along healers and characters who can deal AoE damage.
Completing these new maps and challenges in version 1.6 of the game will grant players the 4-Star character Lynx for free. While Lynx has a reputation in the fandom for being the worst healer in the game, having any healers can be a blessing for players who don’t participate in the gacha often.
As with previous updates, Honkai Star Rail will be adding a new minigame during version 1.6 of the game. This update’s minigame will be a creature-raising game known as Critter Pack. This minigame will see players combine the DNA of creatures together to create new ones.
During version 1.6 of the game, four gacha banners will be made available for characters to pull characters from. These banners will appear in pairs of two in the upcoming weeks.
The two of these banners will feature the new character Ruan Mei and the fan-favorite character Blade as the rate-up 5-Star alongside the 4-Star characters Xuyei, March 7th, and Tingyun.
The third and fourth banners will feature the popular antagonist Kafka and the new character Dr. Ratio as the rate-up 5-Stars alongside the 4-Star characters Natasha, Hook, and Sushang.
To close off the stream, it was announced that the character Dr. Ratio would be given away to all current players of Honkai Star Rail for free. The reason given for this generosity was to reward players for allowing the game to be nominated in various awards shows such as the year Game Awards event.
Honkai Star Rail is currently available for download on PlayStation 5, IOS, Android, and PC via miHoYo’s own launcher and the Epic Games Store.
