Helldivers 2 is best played with other players. It is possible to play solo, but with higher-tier difficulties drastically increasing the enemy density, you’ll have a much easier time playing in a full squad. If you don’t have friends to play with, fear not as Helldivers 2 does feature matchmaking to quickly assemble a squad to take on the enemy horde. This guide will break down how to Matchmake with other players in Helldivers 2.

How to Matchmake in Helldivers 2

To Matchmake in Helldivers 2, you will first need to ensure that your Matchmaking Privacy settings are set to public. To enable public matchmaking head to the options screen and under the Gameplay tab, it should be the first option at the top of the screen.

From here you can toggle Matchmaking Privacy between private so that you can play with just you and another friend in your party, and public, where once you step into the Hellpod, other players will be able to join your squad and head into missions with you.

If you want to head into another squad’s ongoing mission, you can head to the Galactic War mission select screen and hit Quickplay where you will be matched with another squad that fired an SOS beacon. Once a squad has been found, you will immediately connect and load into the mission.

How to Exit Matchmaking

If you chose to Matchmake through Quickplay, once the mission is complete, you will be sent back to the host’s Destroyer. From there you can either stick with the squad and continue doing missions with them or leave to find another squad to play with through the menu under the Game tab.

If you are the host, your squad will be sent back to your Destroyer and you can choose to select another mission with the same squad or disband your current squad also through the menu under the Game tab.
