Whenever the player walks around the world map in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, they’ll be spending their time gathering materials or performing other actions on their way to the next side quest or main story event. These materials are used as fo od to restore the player’s HP, as trading material to get better items, or most importantly as quest materials that the player will use either to get extra renown or convince certain characters to join their party. Dates are primarily used for the latter but can be a bit trick to find. Where to Gather Dates in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
Dates are a vegetable material which, like most others in the game, can be eaten at feasts in order to restore HP and Magic uses or traded as a material for various weapons at the Vandahl Trading Company in Dagison.
While all of these uses for Dates are fine enough, the main reason you’ll be searching for them is because one of the game’s many recruitable units, Halvin, asks you to gather and give her 10 Dates before she’ll join your party. The main two ways to get materials in this game is to either get lucky and hope the Vandahl Trading Company has them or go gather them yourself.
So where can we gather Dates? At the desert in the northwestern corner of the continent of course. Plenty of the gathering nodes here give you Dates, in fact some of the nodes only have Dates. If gathering is too much work for you though, you can also stop by the market at Baina Oasis and buy 10 Dates at once here.
This is great for most of the cast. However, Cai is unfortunately unable to go to the desert in his route as the gates never unlock for him. This prevents him from easily grinding for Dates but that doesn’t completely prevent him from getting them.
If you clear the side quest “Huge, Hairy Beasts” as Cai (It’ll automatically clear and give you the reward as him if you already did it in another Route) near the end of the game, you will be rewarded with two Dates. You can then plant these in empty spaces on the world map as him in order to get some more. It’s a much more roundabout method than the others, but it still allows him to recruit Halvin.
