Fate/Samurai Remnant: How to Beat Rogue Berserker

Fate Samurai Remnant How to Beat Rogue Berserker

Fate/Samurai Remnant is full of optional quests known as Digressions. These quests will often have the player interact with Rogue Servants who aren’t part of the Waxing Moon Ritual. Unfortunately for you not all of those servants are kind. One of those not-so-kind servants is the unshakable bulwark: Rogue Berserker. As soon as his first Digression quest is activated he’ll attack you and begin the hardest boss in the game so far. Many players will have trouble with this fight so here is how to beat Rogue Berserker in Fate/Samurai Remnant.

How to Beat Rogue Berserker in Fate/Samurai Remnant

In order to beat Rogue Berserker in Fate/Samurai Remnant you will need to ignore the quest when you first unlock it and come back later with better equipment and items. He will likely insta-kill you if you challenge him right away.

The quest where you first fight Rogue Berserker “The Guardian of Yoshiwara” is first unlocked in chapter 1 of the game. However, upon trying to enter the area where the quest is the game will warn you twice about the fierce battle that awaits you.

If you ignore both of these warnings the battle against Rogue Berserker will begin and you’ll be met with an absolute tank of a boss that you can barely damage while he kills you in two hits.

When you inevitably get hit by one of his grabs and are low on health, the game will actually give you the option to either retreat or continue fighting him.

If you choose to retreat, you will not be able to rechallenge the fight until later in the game. If you choose to continue fighting and die you’ll need to reload a save. So make sure you save before the battle begins!

Because this fight is next to impossible when you unlock it, you’ll instead need to wait until slightly later into the game when you’ve ground to a higher level and have bigger equipment. Try again when you’re around level 20 in the game’s second chapter.

Being at a higher level doesn’t mean the battle against Rogue Berserker will be a cakewalk. You’ll need to constantly be on your toes for this fight so here are some strategies to keep in mind as you try to beat Berserker in Fate/Samurai Remnant:

  • Use items such as to restore your affinity gauge. Then unleash attacks such as Vortex Slash and Savage Downpour to stun Berserker.
  • Enter the battle with a near full substitute gauge. Saber will be able to deal heavy damage to both Berserker and his shield.
  • Use healing items as often as possible. You won’t die in a single hit at this point, but Berserker will still hit like a truck.
  • Dodge Berserker’s charging grab attack. This heavily telegraphed attack is simple to dodge, but if he does grab you it is an instant kill.
  • if you are feeling risky, attempt to use the Earth-Stance’s counter attack move to parry Berserker. This will deal massive damage to his shield, but if you fail you’ll likely die.

Throughout the fight, you will need to break Berserker’s shield twice. While the shield is up he will barely take any damage. Rest assured though you can slice through his health fast when it falls.

If you do get hit there is a chance Saber will intercept the attack, putting you into a QTE session where you must mash whatever button prompt is on screen to save yourself.

After defeating Rogue Berserker, Iori and Saber will retreat. Your reward for defeating Berserker will be a key item called Maki-e Wakizashi. This item will be needed for a quest later in the game.
