There is so much to do and so many things to see in Baldur’s Gate 3 that you may wonder ‘Is there a time limit for the main quest?’. For many players, knowing they have a restricted time to do something is fun. On the flip side, for others it ruins the experience. If that’s something you’ve been worrying about, read on! In this article, we’ll discuss if there’s a time limit for the main quest in Baldur’s Gate 3 and whether you need to worry and rush.

Is There a Strict Time Limit in BG3?

BG3 doesn’t have a time limit for the main quest. You can make your way through the Acts as you see fit. You won’t ever need to sit down and play as quickly as possible. There are a few exceptions where you’ll have to think about your actions. In other situations, you may be punished for taking too long, but this doesn’t affect the main story or quest.

But in this game, if there is a time limit for any of the side quests, you’ll know and you’ll be able to act accordingly. The game will tell you when there is some sort of time limit or restriction related to a quest or action. You’ll be given enough opportunity to react appropriately.

The main quest has no time limit in BG3, so that’s something you won’t even have to think about. You can just have fun while working your way through the content. It’s only side quests that may require some faster acting.

You can start and follow your character’s story however you want to. The guys at Larian Studios have not worked in some kind of time-sensitive mechanic. Sure, you have a tadpole in your brain and you’ve been told you’ll turn into a Mindflayer any minute now, but you’ve got protection against that and enough time to enjoy the game leisurely.
