Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Save Hope

Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Save Hope

Act 3 is just full of twists and turns. While exploring the House of Hope in Baldur’s Gate 3, you may wonder how to save poor Hope. This is one of the many interesting and unique characters in the game, and yet another one that you’ll have to rescue. And you really have to, if you want to successfully free Prince Orpheus from Raphael’s clutches. In this guide, we’ll look at how to save Hope in Baldur’s Gate 3 without things getting too complicated.

Should You Save Hope in Baldur’s Gate 3?

You need as much help as you can get against the sneaky and clever Raphael, so yes, you need to save Hope in BG3. You will find Hope in the foyer of The House of Hope, and she’ll approach you—or at least a form of her will approach you.

After talking to Hope, you’ll explore this fascinating and morbid house while the master is away. Hope will help you and your companions as you make your way through it. Your most important task here is to find the Orphic Hammer so you can free Orpheus. This hammer will also help you free Hope.

How to Save Hope by Finding the Orphic Hammer in BG3

The Orphic Hammer is located on the west side of the house in Rapheal’s Archive in BG3. It is watched over by the Archivist. This entity is scared of Verillius Receptor, Zariel’s High Inquisitor. You can use this knowledge and try to pass a Deception roll to convince the Archivist that you’re the thing it fears.

The Archivist will then tell you he does not know the masterword to access the hammer. However, he’ll give you the Boudoir Invitation that allows you to enter Rapheal’s Boudoir. This is in the northern part of the home where a Mystic Force Curtain prevents entry without the invitation. You’ll encounter Raphael’s Haarlep, an Incubus that looks like the devil himself.

If you refuse to play the ‘game’ suggested by the Incubus, you’ll have to fight him. The fight isn’t an easy one but should be manageable if you’re at a high enough level. Once you defeat him, you’ll get Helldusk Gloves that give you the Infernal Touch Feature and let you cast Rays of Fire. You also get the keys to Raphael’s Safe and some kinky underwear.

If you don’t feel like deceiving the Archivist or don’t think you’ll pass the Deception dice roll, you can pickpocket him or hop along the cliffside to get into the bedroom where you’ll meet the Incubus.

Once you’ve opened the safe (which hides behind a painting of Raphael), you’ll find notes with the masterword and five Soul Coins. If you open the Opulent Chest in the Boudoir, you’ll find a Potion of Angelic Slumber. This can help you prepare for the inevitable fight against Raphael.

Getting The Hammer and the Legendary Gloves of Soul Catching

Once you have the info you need, you’ll have to go the Archive again. Now you can take the Orphic Hammer in BG3 after speaking the right words. You’ll then be informed that Raphael is on his way home and you have to rush to Hope’s Prison. This is in the eastern part of the House of Hope.

Making your way to the Prison Hatchway that leads to Hope won’t be as easy but it’s not the most difficult part of this rescue mission. The prison itself has a fight with Vengeful Imps and Spectators, so make sure you’re ready!

Once this fight is over, it’s back into the House of Hope. It’s recommended that you rush past the enemies here and avoid fighting them. Head to the entrance chamber. Here, you’ll have to face Raphael and it’s such a big fight it deserves a guide of its own. Good luck!

Once this BG3 fight is over, Hope will be grateful that you freed and saved her and defeated Raphael. She will be a bit sad that her sister Korrilla had to die.

Hope will decide to stay instead of going back to Faerun. She’ll also reward you with the Legendary Gloves of Soul Catching. If you spared Korrilla, Hope will be rather disappointed, but she will still reward you with the gloves.

And that is all you need to know about how to save Hope in Baldur’s Gate 3. Check out other interesting BG3 guides and articles:
