Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Save Distressed Patient

Baldur’s Gate 3: Distressed Patient — Can You Save Him?

There are many interesting and fascinating locations to explore in Baldur’s Gate 3. One of these places is a quite hellish hospital with nurses that make you think of Silent Hill. In this place, the living is tortured and the doctor is the one encouraging the heinous acts. It is here that you encounter someone that you would hope to rescue. Many players have wondered if Baldur’s Gate 3 lets you save the Distressed Patient in obvious and agonizing pain. If you’ve also wondered, stick around because we’ll discuss exactly that in this article.

Is It Possible to Save the Distressed Patient in Baldur’s Gate 3?

As long as you’re playing the updated version of Baldur’s Gate 3, you can try and actually succeed your attempt to save the distressed patient. Before Patch 1, this wasn’t possible no matter how hard you tried. Since the updates, though, players have been able to do their best to save the poor man.

How to Save the Distressed Patient in BG3

The most straightforward way to attempt to save the Distressed Patient in BG3 is to attack Malus Thorm before you get close enough to initiate a dialogue. You’ll also have an advantage in the fight, especially if you’re positioned on the raised balcony.

Talking to Malus Thorm will lead to the doctor piercing the patient’s eyes, which won’t do him any favors. If you manage to convince Malus to let the nurses take him out ‘for Shar’, you’ll still end up with a losing situation.

While the patient will still be alive after Malus’s death, you won’t be able to save him. You’ll only have a little bit of dialogue that shows how the patient suffers. You can release him from the medical table by using the Knock Spell, but he will only take a few steps before dying, unfortunately.

Also, mind how you fight because AoE spells such as Fireball can end the patient’s life early. Players have found that if they don’t have a Moon Lantern out after this, the patient will rise as an undead creature and become hostile.

You will find the key to release the patient on Malus’s body. Once you free the patient, they will try to flee from the scene into the Shadow-Cursed Lands. It’s not known what happens to the poor man while he’s out there.

Sadly, this is all you can do to save the Distressed Patient in BG3, and, although you’re not really saving him and giving him a happy ending, you’re at least freeing him from the grip of the evil doctor.

And that is all you need to know about how to save the Distressed Patient in Baldur’s Gate 3. Check out other interesting BG3 guides and articles:
